Michael's Baptism

At just one month old, Michael was baptized on January 18th. He did a great job of sleeping through the service, and wasn't about to let Pastor pouring water over his head disturb his nap! Our congregation was excited to welcome the newest member, and we feel so blessed to be a part of such a wonderful church family.

Our handsome little man wore the same special baptismal outfit as his sister - his Great-Grandma Donna's gown with a blanket made by her for her grandchildren.

Godparents Alisson and Jeff came out for the weekend, and we LOVED every minute we could spend with them!
Grandma and Grandpa Sower were still in town for the special day, too.
Hannah did a wonderful job during the service - she was very interested in what was happening to her baby brother!

Life As A Two Year Old

Hannah is such a busy little girl these days! Her days are filled with fun adventures as she learns and grows, and explores the world around her. Hannah's vocabulary has expanded significantly, and we can understand quite a bit of what she's saying to us now - she is very into labeling everything around her, and will tell us repeatedly what things are :) She has also been working on her manners, and will usually say please and thank you (sometimes with some prompting). Hannah loves table activities like coloring, painting, and play-do. She also loves helping Mommy around the house with stuff like cleaning and setting the table for dinner. Of course, she hasn't forgotten about Molly, her favorite baby doll - Hannah makes sure that Molly gets fed and washed and goes for walks in the stroller every day. When she's tired, Molly has her own special bed to sleep in so that she'll be ready to play again in the morning :) Hannah loves to pretend, and has a great imagination! She cooks large meals for us with her kitchen, and insists that we eat them. She bounces her stuffed Tigger around the playroom and has long and thoughtful conversations with Pooh. She can talk on the phone for hours (she thinks she's a teenager already!). Dancing and bopping around to music is another favorite acitivity, and Hannah will often ask for the cd player in the playroom to be turned on. She can sing along with and do actions to a lot of her favorite songs, and will ask for the same songs to be played or sung over and over again :) Hannah also really loves quiet activities, and is always happy to sit down with a book or puzzle. I am always surprised by how long she will sit for a good story - some of her books were Mommy's and Daddy's when they were little, and are a little advanced for toddlers, but our little bookworm will almost always choose those longer books to listen to during story time. She is such a joy in our lives, and we are so excited to see what she'll start doing next!

Hannah found Winnie-the-Pooh coloring sheets in her goody bag from the birthday party and just had to color all of them at once!
Having a tea party with Grandma Jan.
What's cookin'?
Mastering a new puzzle.
Reading her favorite Pooh stories to an attentive Bella.

It's Party Time!!

Hannah was a lucky little girl and got to celebrate her 2nd birthday twice this year - once with Mommy and Daddy on her birthday, and once with all of her friends a couple of weeks later.

It was a small party, but we didn't hear any complaints from the birthday girl - she was too busy enjoying her cupcakes!! She started grabbing them off the plate before we had a chance to sing to her :) Don't worry, we stopped her after the 2nd. . . . . . .
After cupcakes, it was time to open presents. Her favorite was the talking tea set from Grandma and Grandpa Fiecke - she sat right down and started pouring tea for all of us :)
Hannah has several friends who also turned 2 this month, and we decided to have one big party for all of them at Bellingham Bay Gymnastics. The party was tons of fun - how could it not be with 12 toddlers running around?! The kids had playtime in the gym, including some fun with the parachute and the zipline, and then went to the party room for some pizza and cupcakes.
Slam Dunk!
Hannah missed Gymnastics while Mommy was on bedrest last fall, but she jumped right back on all of the equipment to show off for her friends.
The kids worked up quite an appetite with all of that gym time, and Hannah was more than ready to scarf down her slice of pizza and a super-sized costco cupcake!

Playing Hot Potato

He's only 1 month, but Michael sure knows how to get around!! Our little man LOVES being held - and has a lot to say about it when you put him down :) Here are just a few of the people he's been caught snuggling with lately. . . . . .

Big sis Hannah still loves getting a chance to hold "her" baby.
Friend Isabella was a little shy, but did a great job.
Friend Terrace practicing for when her own baby brother arrives.
Daddy's got the right touch for settling down a cranky Michael.
The carseat will do in a pinch, but only for a minute :)

Winter Visitors

Sorry for the long pause between blog updates, but we have been busy with our many visitors this past month and are just now going through all of the pictures. . . . . . .

Grandma Cindy was the first arrival, getting here just in time to enjoy our snow storms and the birth of baby Michael :) She was a big help around the house and watched over Hannah for us while we were in the hospital!

Grandpa Gehry and Grandma Jan came shortly after Hannah's birthday, and also helped out with Hannah and housework while we adjusted to life with two kids.

Our good friends Alisson and Jeff arrived next for a short visit for Michael's baptism. We were bummed that they couldn't spend more time out here, but we made the most of the time they did have with us :)

And now the visitors are all gone and it is time for reality to set in - especially next week when Daddy goes back to work and Mommy is home ALONE with 2 kids. . . . . . . We'll keep you posted on how THAT'S working out! :)
